From my first day in that waiting room, I knew that I was in the right hands. From my starting point, I have now lost over 10st or 63kg. The pains I thought I would have to live with are now gone and I am starting to live again…I could not be happier with how my journey has developed. It is not always easy and there is trial and error but overall going with Dr William Robb was one of the best decisions of my life.
My weight was becoming so hard to carry and my blood tests showed I was moving into diabetes. I had my surgery in the Hermitage Clinic, and I have lost 5 stones in 6 months. I’m on half of my blood pressure tablets and should be off them when I lose all of the weight. Also, I have stopped taking the statin. Walking and moving are so much easier… I would not hesitate to do this.
From the very first phone call, I had found exactly what I was looking for. This is a weight loss clinic with a difference, not only do they understand your battle, but they genuinely care and listen. The aftercare was equally as important as the surgery itself. In 2019, now 116 kg (18.2 stone), I started looking into bariatric surgery options with the help and support of my family and partner, and at the end of that year, I met the lovely Deborah and had my first appointment with Mr Robb & Emer. To say I immediately felt like I would be in great hands would be an understatement. I am now 33, almost 3 years post-op and I can’t thank this team enough. My life has changed in ways I didn’t expect and I couldn’t even imagine. I have lost 60kg (9.4 stone) since the surgery. I began exercising as soon as I could to help the process, the skin and to build muscle and I am currently 58kg (9 stone).

I had been thinking about weight loss surgery for years but had always stalled on a decision. I imagined I would finally, somehow, be able to win the lifelong battle against my weight, despite all the evidence to the contrary. Mr. Robb’s main selling point is undoubtedly his surgical expertise but, for me, of equal importance is his great kindness and the respect he shows to his patients. I had struggled with my weight since I was a teenager. My GP and an endocrinologist both recommended Mr William Robb. Eleven months after my gastric bypass and I have lost over 9 stone! Caring for my 5-year-old son has become much easier. I am off all medication that I had been on before the operation. I’ve gone from a size 24/26 to a size 14 and I can now buy clothes I like as opposed to buying what is in my size.
I first saw Mr Robb in August 2017 and I immediately got a very good feeling from him. He explained the different types of bariatric surgery available to me and which one he thought would be most effective based on my history. I found the multidisciplinary approach very good and it helped me to make an informed decision about going forward and having the surgery. The surgery has given me a new outlook on life and most importantly I am able to do activities with my 5-year-old son that I could not do before bariatric surgery.
