Hi, Noel Duffy here. I started my journey over 11 years ago. It all began in Galway Hospital, and then I got a call to move up to the Blackrock Clinic—which I jumped at. My first meeting was with Mr. Robb and his team, and I met them again at different stages along the way.
Life before surgery was okay, but I wasn’t happy in myself. Walking was difficult, and I was on a lot of insulin and medication—you can look it all up, Mr. Robb has the full list.
It was my doctor, Sheila Stephens at Ferbane Health Centre, who got the ball rolling for me. I was in Galway Hospital when I got the call asking if I’d be willing to go to the Blackrock Clinic.
I had the bypass surgery, which Mr. Robb said would be the best option for me. He has one of the best teams I’ve ever come across, and the support they gave me was outstanding. I’d highly recommend Mr. Robb and his entire team.
Life now is an absolute joy—I’m out walking, playing golf, and back on the roads. I’m off all insulin now—it’s all been reversed. I love going shooting, heading to rugby matches, and just enjoying this new version of me. I’m a very happy man with what I’ve achieved in just over a year.
My surgery date was the 13th of March 2024, and since then, I’ve been enjoying life—working, walking the farm, and sleeping much better.
