I’ve struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I’d never really considered surgery as an option, as it seemed so drastic. But after years of failed diets, fasting, Ozempic — you name it — I felt inspired to pursue surgery after seeing the transformative results for a couple of people I know who had a bypass.
I was planning on a bypass but then heard of the SADI. At my heaviest, I weighed over 26 stone. When I looked into this, and with Dr Robb’s guidance, I felt this would be the better option for me, as it is suited to people with a higher BMI and results in greater weight loss.
I had my surgery in April 2025. I now weigh just over 13 stone. I have lost a total of 82kg, or 12.9 stone so far, and I’m still losing weight — I can’t believe it. I honestly cannot remember a time when I weighed this much.
The difference the surgery has made to my life is hard to put into words. Everything is just so much easier now, and my anxiety and stress have improved too — no more panicking about whether chairs will hold my weight or airplane seat belts fitting. I’m really excited for my future and for getting to experience all the things I’ve missed out on over the years.
Yes, the surgery is tough and the recovery can be frustrating, but I can pretty much eat anything now, just in small quantities — the way most people naturally do. I can’t thank Dr Robb and his team enough for giving me this new lease of life.
