I have struggled with my weight my entire life from being a chubby toddler to starting weight watchers as a pre teen and it only progressed from there. I would loose weight, sometimes a significant amount, but it would always pile back on with more. After having our 2 gorgeous kids I was back up to almost my highest weight and it was affecting every aspect of my life. I couldn’t play with the kids the way I wanted to or carry them upstairs. My body was so sore after a day’s work and I had crippling health anxiety that something would happen to me and I wouldn’t be there for my family.
I had never considered bariatric surgery but then I saw a friend of my sisters who had gone through the process and had huge success. I started researching and talking to people online about their experiences and a name that kept coming up was Mr.Robb. I self reffered and had my first consultation a couple of months later. From that moment on I was in safe hands. Mr.Robb was caring and took time to explain all options to me. He listened to my opinions and with his help I decided to have the SADI-S procedure. This would give me the best weight loss results and balance any potential issues.
The care I received in hospital under Mr.Robbs team was second to none. Particularly Susan the bariatric nurse was amazing. She took such good care of me and was so accessible to talk to anytime I needed advice or had a question after I was discharged.
The initial period post surgery is hard and very emotionally difficult as you adjust to a new normal. But it passes and you find your feet. I can happily say today I am leading an amazing life which wouldn’t be open to me if I hadn’t had the surgery. 9 months post op I am down 8 stone 3 pounds. I feel fantastic. I can jump on the trampoline with my kids. I can walk up the stairs in work and not be out of breath and embarrassed to talk to anyone. Im not afraid all the time about my health. I went on a work trip abroad and I wasn’t scared of fitting in the seat. This time last year I had to get a seat belt extender and I barley fit in the seat. This year I had loads of length to spare on the seat belt. It was such a freeing experience.
I couldnt recommend Mr.Robb and his team more to anyone considering this surgery. They are caring and kind. Very professional and accomplished and have access to state of the art facilities. The added benefit of the dedicated bariatric nurse cannot be quantified and is a huge asset to you as a patient.
Its a huge decision to have bariatric surgery but i can honestly say it has been one of the best decisions of my life. It has given me my life back.
