I first saw Mr Robb in August 2017 and I immediately got a very good feeling from him. He explained the different types of bariatric surgery available to me and which one he thought would be most effective based on my history. I found the multidisciplinary approach very good and it helped me to make an informed decision about going forward and having the surgery.
On November 18 2017, I became the first patient in Ireland to undergo robotic gastric bypass surgery. I was in the Blackrock clinic for 3 days post-surgery where I received the best care and attention I could have asked for from all the nursing staff.
The post-op follow-up care has also been excellent and I have received great advice from Mr Robb, the medical team and from Emer on all aspects of my weight loss journey.
The surgery has given me a new outlook on life and most importantly I am able to do activities with my 5-year-old son that I could not do before bariatric surgery due to serious health issues. Since having gastric bypass all my pre-existing health issues have been corrected and I am off all medication.
