What Are the Eligibility Criteria?

Insurers may also require a minimum waiting period on the policy before a claim for planned surgical procedures can be made. This is known as a waiting period and typically applies to new policies. If you are on an existing policy and have not previously made a claim for bariatric surgery, this waiting period may already have passed.

Which Procedures Are Covered?

What If My Policy Doesn’t Cover Surgery?

If your current plan does not include bariatric surgery, there are options. Upgrading your policy to a higher-tier plan may include surgical cover — though waiting periods may apply to the upgraded benefits. It is also worth checking whether your corporate or employer-provided health insurance includes bariatric surgery.
